2006 Livingston Cleanup

October 28, 2006, Around 50 Offroad Enthusiasts once again gathered at Cromer Ridge for a Roadside Cleanup. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not grace us with the best weather conditions, with temperatures in the 50's and a cool mist and drizzle in the morning. Thankfully, the Volunteers all had a bright smile on their faces and came prepared to work. Given the dreary weather conditions, this year's event was slightly smaller than in years past, however, this did not stop the volunteers from filling two Dump Trucks, provided by the Laurel County Division of Waste, with trash, old tires, abandoned appliances, and other debris from the area.

Trash Bags, Gloves and other Raffle Items were provided by Laurel County PRIDE and the Laurel County Fiscal Court. Additionally Laurel County PRIDE did much of the logistics and planning for the event. Other Planning and preparations for the event were done by the Kentucky Krawlers Offroad Club and The Trailkeepers Foundation.

Lunch was provided to all the hard working volunteers by Campus Pub of Lexington, by Grilling hamburgers and hot dogs on site, for a much needed warm break.

By the End of the Day, the sun had come out just in time for the raffle. Nearly $3000 in cash and prizes were donated for this by all of our sponsors. Just as in years past, a competition was held to see which team could collect the most trash. In First place, the Kentucky Krawlers with 195 points, awarding them a check for $500. The real excitement came from second and third place teams however. With just minutes left, two teams were in a tie. In the end, the TKO Trailriders (112 points) edged out the team from MOAB Offroad (100 points) in Louisville, Ky. Each receiving a check for $250 and $100 Respectively.
